How to upload a custom font to Canva (including your own handwriting)
Canva lets you upload your own fonts on its paid, education and nonprofit plans. Here's exactly how — and which file to use.

Canva has a huge font library, but sometimes you need something only you have — a brand font, or a font made from your own handwriting. Canva lets you upload fonts to your Brand Kit, and they then appear in the font menu of every design. Details below are from Canva's help center, checked in September 2026.
Who can upload fonts
- Canva Pro, Teams and Business plans.
- Canva for Education and Canva for Nonprofits.
- In a team, only owners, admins and brand designers can upload fonts.

How to upload a font to Canva

Open your Brand Kit
In the Canva side panel, open Brand and choose the Brand Kit you want to add the font to.

Go to Fonts
Open the Fonts section and select Add to category, then Upload a font.

Choose your font file
Drag the .ttf, .otf or .woff file into the window or use Choose files, then confirm and wait for the upload to finish.

Use it in a design
Select a text box and open the font menu — your font appears under Uploaded fonts.
Using your handwriting in Canva
A handwriting font works beautifully in Canva for social posts, planners, labels and invitations. Make yours with Dearfont, download the TTF file, and upload it with the steps above. With Pro you can also draw up to three versions of each letter so repeated letters look more natural in apps that support OpenType alternates.

Can I upload fonts on Canva Free?
No. Font uploads need Canva Pro, Teams, Business, Education or Nonprofits.
Why won't Canva accept my font?
The most common reasons are a WOFF2, ZIP or variable font file, a file over 15 MB, or a font whose license doesn't allow embedding. Unzip the download and upload a TTF, OTF or WOFF file.
Can teachers upload fonts in Canva for Education?
