How to use it

Each style adds a combining mark after every character, such as the low line (U+0332) for a classic underline, and the app draws it under the letter. The result survives copy and paste, but letters with tails like g, p and y can collide with the line.

Discord has its own underline: put two underscores on each side, __like this__. WhatsApp has no underline format, so a Unicode underline is the only way there; paste it into a chat, your About text or a status.
The line is drawn at a fixed spot under each character, and letters with tails reach into that space. It's a limit of how combining marks are drawn, so short words without descenders look cleanest.
Every character gets its own short segment, and whether they touch depends on the font. Spaces are underlined too, so the line runs across the whole phrase, but some apps still show small gaps.
Dotted puts two small dots under each letter (U+0324), which reads like a dotted line. Wavy uses a tilde below (U+0330) for a squiggly, spell-check-style line. Both are subtler than a solid underline.
The base letters are normal, so the words usually come through, but the underline is either ignored or read out as an odd symbol. Don't rely on underlining alone to show that something is important.
